I allocate time every day for browsing and interacting with online writing communities. Basic questions are being asked, questions for which you could find an answer by searching online.
The quick conclusion is that the writers asking the questions are consuming the precious time of other writers that feel compelled to help and answer. It might be more than that.
What if it’s actually a need for connecting with other writers? I’m certain that the writer asking knows she can find the answer online, but it’s more about connecting with your own community, a conversation opener.
Since a lot of question are about how to create, convert, edit an eBook, it seems simpler to write an explanatory blog post about it, promote Asengana, and offer a free tool (for a limited period) to create eBooks in ePub format.
You can read it here: Convert all your stories to eBooks (ePub) for FREE with Asengana in 30 days.
Writing Platform Updates:
1. New Analytics page – Character Map
The individual characters’ files have a mini-module about setting up the relationship with other characters. It is useful to have all these relationships on one page for a fresh reminder of the connections between characters. We thought first at a family tree type visual, but it would have been an incomplete picture. A minimalist list type approach seemed to satisfy the need for refreshing and analyzing relationship between characters.
2. Create new project – UX improvements
In the previous iteration, on the new project page, “Choose a template” was the last item as a dropdown. Based on the feedback we received from you, the decision about the type of project (novella, novel, etc) is one of the first thing you decide and also the dropdown wasn’t very user friendly. We changed it to the image selection approach you can see below.
3. Bug fixes
One of our testers discovered a bug with the Kanban Board. While the menu type moving to a different column worked, the drag & drop option wasn’t working for an empty column. It’s fixed.
