Hey writers,
I wish I could say that the month of January was a quiet one, but I would be lying. It was an exciting month, especially because we officially launched the Asengana platform. A huge thank you goes to you all. One of the strongest motivating factors for us during development was looking at the Early Adopters subscribers list. It was growing every day. We knew that we had writers expecting to see what was cooking on our servers.
The go-live was a quiet one. More about it here. We kept working. We have plans that will keep us busy for the next 2-3 years without considering what will change and the many things we will learn from what you need.
For this month we have the following updates:
Manuscript Structure module
Issue 1 (source – community member submitted to the Concierge Service Desk):
“When I start a new writing project, I might spend a month or more just working on the structure. Planning is important for me and until I’m comfortable with it, I will not start writing a single scene. I used a template for the project. This way I don’t have to create scenes one by one. In the Manuscript Structure page though, I need to change the description of scene as I plan. Going to every scene to edit description is time consuming.”
Solution:
Implement a modal window and edit the Scene’s description field on the same page. This means you can modify the initial description of a Scene every time you need to do so.
Issue 2 (source – community member submitted to the Concierge Service Desk):
“If I change the order of the scenes and I want to add a Research Note, I forget about the **** Save button. I know is there, I just forget about it.”
Solution:
Implement a
- Save changes
- Ignore changes and
go to the new page - Close warning and stay on the Manuscript Structure page
Kanban Board module
Issue (source – community member submitted to the Concierge Service Desk):
“Kanban board drag and drop only works when the item is dragged to the area the list is made up of. For example, if my scene is at the bottom of the To Do list, and I try to drag it into the Doing list, it won’t work. I have to drag it all the way to the top then move it over. With 100 scenes, this is very annoying.”
Solution:
Add a click-based ordering method. Each Scene has the MOVE button (mouse-over) that enables choosing a Kanban Board column. If a certain Scene needs to be prioritized, it can also be moved to the top of the column.
That’s it for January 2020. Thank you. Remember to share the platform with your writer friends and use our Concierge Service Desk for comments and feedback.
