Sometimes, you stumble upon a brilliant idea by sheer accident—like a blind squirrel who happens upon an acorn. But luck, in writing, isn’t entirely random. The more often you write, the more “accidents” you’ll experience.
It might be a turn of phrase that resonates unexpectedly or a new character who wanders into your story unplanned. You might think, How did I even come up with that?
But here’s the key: The more you practice, the more likely these flashes of genius will show up. Show up to the page daily, and you’ll be present when serendipity strikes. The acorn finds the squirrel only if the squirrel is out searching in the first place.
Go deeper. By helping your reader “see the rest,” you create trust and spark curiosity. Remember: Your drafts are only the beginning. The rest of the story is often where your true voice emerges.
